Congratulations to Potsdam, NY for being awarded the downtown revitalization initiative funding award of $10 million dollars. Lt. Governor Kathy Hochul recently visited the village to announce the winner of the DRI program that is being referred to as the “Hunger Games” due to the competitive nature of the grant process. Many local & state officials, business owners and residents were present for the announcement that packed in well over 200 people to Clarkson’s Old Main Building. The October 22nd announcement will help revitalize Potsdam through “streetscape” enhancements to downtown as well as emphasize the need for developing the village’s arts, education and outdoor recreation culture. Clarkson University’s Small Business Incubator may also gain financial support through this funding to expand startup and new technology-based companies. Hochul was quoted in saying that this program is a way “to right the wrongs of the past” and to ensure the North Country is not forgotten by Albany.
