Your shop stewards should have handed out a Contract Negotiations 2022 Talking Points form for you to fill out in late March. Please make sure these are completed and sent back to your shop steward. The results will be tabulated so that we can be prepared for contract negotiations in the next few weeks. This will help us gauge the wants and needs of the members for this next year full of negotiations. Please note this should not be shared outside of the union membership.

The 2021 IBEW Local 2032 Scholarship applications for high school seniors must be postmarked and complete by May 13th, 2021 to be considered. Keep in mind this is a $500.00 renewable scholarship for up to four years. The winner will be chosen at the June Executive Board meeting. If you need any further information regarding this scholarship, please contact the union office.

We had our first in-person meeting at all three sites this month. This is the first time we were able to do so since November of 2020 due to the pandemic. It was great to get back to some semblance of normalcy. We hope this is a trend that we can continue and encourage participation and attendance of the membership. We will look at the COVID-19 positivity rates on a monthly basis to determine if there will be an on-site meeting. The anticipated meeting dates for next month are May 3rd at STL, May 4th at BG, and May 5th at CEC. We will send out reminders to all members as the dates near.

Thank you to all who participated in the donation collection for Brother Greg Baker from CEC. It is very heartwarming to see our members support a fellow member in time of need. This is the true meaning of solidarity among members at all three sites.

We have an Adopt-A-Highway clean-up date scheduled for May 1, 2021, at 10:00 am. All interested members and their families are invited to attend and should show up at the twin ponds across the road from the Rt. 131 intersection with Barnhardt Island Road. Please show up a little early to sign in and receive your safety gear. We encourage you to wear your NYPA safety vests and gear if you have it. We will have a tent with refreshments at the sign-in location. Upon completing the clean-up, all volunteers will meet for pizza and wings.

Please join us in welcoming 2 new members that were recently hired at CEC:
Vincent Nucci was hired as a new Electrician B.
Matthew Klingensmith was hired as the new FLEET Journeyperson Mechanic.
