New International Rep for the 3rd District
We received a memo from IVP Dennis Affinati that states the following:
Effective June 1, 2025, Jeff Sondervan, Business Manager/President of Local Union #36 located in Rochester, New York, will be appointed as International Representative of the Third District. Jeff will service utility local unions in western and central New York. Please join me in wishing Brother Sondervan the best in his new position, as we wish Sister Cosenza a happy and healthy retirement.
25 and Out Legislation
The 25 and out legislation has been introduced to both the Senate and Assembly. The bills can be found publicly as S7378 for the Senate and A7975 for the Assembly. Senator Joe Griffo and Robert Jackson are sponsoring the bills in the Senate and Assemblyman Billy Jones is sponsoring the bill in the Assembly.
Solidarity Parade Tickets
The union office received an allotment of tickets to sell for the Solidarity Day Parade again this year. An envelope with 5 tickets was sent to each STL member to sell or purchase. Please either hand the stubs and payment back in to your Shop Steward or send them to the office by August 25th. The date of the parade this year is Monday, September 1st. Please contact the union office if you would like more tickets to sell. We truly appreciate your assistance in this effort. Last year LU 2032 sold the top prize ticket and the $200.00 winning ticket.
If You See Something, Say Something
The union office has made it a practice to send all contractor notifications to the site’s Shop Stewards to ensure the safety and security of our members. If you see someone that is not an authorized worker, ask your Shop Steward to verify they are scheduled to work. Stay vigilant!
Use Your Benefits
This is a reminder to take advantage of the recent increase in the maximum reimbursement amount to the union hearing aid benefits for active employees from $1500.00 to $3500.00, every three years. This is an extensive increase that should be taken advantage of.
New ULC Website!
The Utility Labor Council has a newly designed website: ULC website. You can see all the affiliated locals, look at current issues that affect you, as a utility worker, and browse a digital copy of The Electrical Worker newspaper.
