Did you Know?

Q: Has the company indicated when they will be ready to start contract negotiations?
A: There is an informal meeting scheduled early in October to discuss the contract.

Q: Several members are curious about the Union’s thoughts about future wages due to significant inflation. Your thoughts?
A: We have had many discussions on wages. Inflation is only one aspect that the wages are based on. We have been compiling comparable trades wages across the country for some time now. We will FOIL all the manager’s wages to see the median and the average salary raise, including their 401.

Q: Do you expect this contract to be another extension?
A: We are not sure. We have quite a few things we would like to change in the contract that would be helpful for both NYPA and the IBEW.

Q: Do you expect this contract to separate the skilled and unskilled members or a tired system? (I know you are opposed to the two-tiered system)
A: You are correct, I am opposed to the two-tier system. I do believe some of our entry level wages have been holding us back. We have discussed some solutions that would not affect our current members.
