Gil Quiniones visited Massena Intake on Friday, July 23rd to hold an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for the recent improvements made to the site. This included a lunch at the St. Lawrence project with Gil and NYPA trustee Eugene Nicandri. These discussions may prove fruitful in the upcoming contract negotiations. This project was a joint effort of the Madrid -Waddington School system, Waddington village and town, Louisville and the village and town of Massena, Massena Central School system, and NYPA. The improvements include expansion of the intake boat launches, new docks, two new pavilions and restrooms. It is anticipated that this project will increase tourism and boost the local economy, much as it has in the last few years with the bass fishing tournaments.
